269 building permits
125 completion certificates issued valued at $22 million
THE September quarter of this year saw 269 building permits issued for construction work valued at $45.7 million.
In contrast, a total of 125 completion certificates with a value of $22m were issued in the same period.
According to the Fiji Bureau of Statistics, the building statistics show the number and value of permits and completion certificates issued during a period.
Statistics provided by the bureau show that the number of building permits issued and the corresponding value of works also decreased by 23.1 and 53.4 per cent respectively when compared with the June quarter of this year.
Meanwhile a comparison with the September quarter of 2021 show the number of building permits issued and the corresponding value of works decreased by 5.6 and 18.9 percent respectively.
Of the total $45.7m value associated with the building permits issued, the Northern Division accounted for 1.6 per cent, Western 30.4 per cent and the Central Division accounted for 68 per cent.
In terms of the completion certificates, the number of completion certificates issued had declined by 12 per cent and the value of construction works associated with the completion certificates increased by 19.4 per cent, when compared with the June quarter of 2022.
When compared with the September
quarter of 2021 the number of completion certificates issued had declined by 11.3 per cent and the value of construction works associated with the completion certificates increased by 54.9 per cent.
A breakdown by division shows that of the $22m value associated with the completion certificates issued 4.1 per cent was attributed to the Northern Division, Western
Division accounted for 19.6 per cent while the Central Division accounted for 76.3 per cent.
