Club targets more golfers

- By ZANZEER SINGH

THE Ba Golf Club has set up a membership drive this year, offering rebate on registration fees to target more golfers.

The club has produced many champion golfers including Rajen Singh, Indra Warjan and Vikrant Chandra.

Club captain Rohit Chandra said they had a successful 2022 season.

He said many junior golfers had joined the club.

“Our junior development program will continue,” Rohit said.

“The emphasis is on implementing a strong grassroots development program to unearth more talented youngsters.

“We will continue the specialised training each week to upskill their golfing techniques.

“James Pridgeon from Pacific Harbour donated some golf sets for our juniors. We handed two out during our season closing event.

“There are 10 sets remaining which we have decided to hand over to Golf Fiji.

“Our annual general meeting will be held soon. Before that, the current committee has decided to give a rebate to all members who pay their subscription fee before the end of this month.

“The normal fee is $200 for the season but those who pay early will get a $50 discount.

“Last year we did not hold any club sponsored tournament only through the support of all the sponsors.

“We are also grateful to Fiji Sugar Corporation Rarawai mill general manager Iliaz Khan and his group for all the support.”

New Zealand-based Arunesh Chandra holds the record of winning the Ba Golf Open Championship title for seven consecutive years from 2005 to 2011.
