Two matches per day for teams

TEAMS will play two matches per day at the 2023 McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s tournament.

As per the tournament structure in the main division, each team will play two pool games on Thursday, day one.

On Friday, teams will complete their pool games with their third matches. The quarter-finals will take place in the afternoon.

The semi-finals and finals will be played on Saturday.

The same structure will apply for the men’s and youth divisions.

The 2023 Coral Coast 7s will be played from January 12-14 at Sigatoka’s Lawaqa Park.

Meanwhile, in the men’s division, defending champion Police is grouped with Wardens, McDonalds Saunaka and Yamacia.

In Pool B is Ratu Filise, Wadigi Salvo, Tuva Rugby and Pacific Nomads.

Overseas-based USA Falcons, Fire, Army and SRS Nukuvara are in Pool C.

In Pool D is Raiwasa Taveuni, Uluinakau, Vueti Cakau and ASM Nadro Stallions.

The absence of the Fijiana side this year sees the Australian Developmen­t side go into the tournament as the top seed for this year’s Shangri-La women’s division.

The side is in pool A with first-time tournament participan­ts LV Stingrays, home team Navosa and Savusavu.

Pool B has Seahawks, Army, Tagimoucia Ranadi and a wildcard team to be announced later.

Pool C has Police, Lillian Amazons, Tabusoro Angels and a wildcard team.

Tuva heads pool A in the youth division with Waisale Serevi’s King 7s Select, Namaqa Grass Roots and Natabua Breez.

Dominion Brothers top pool B with Ralagi 7s, Japan SDS and SRS Nukuvura from Navosa.

Pool C has the Aussie Youth 7s, AJ Pallets Ba River, First Light Taveuni and NNN Tuburua from Navosa.

The Fiji U20s, which will be coached Fiji Airways Fiji 7s men’s head coach Ben Gollings lead pool D with McDonald’s Vueti Cakau, PSM Brothers and Coastal Cuvu Blues.
