Governing medley

-

THE FFP should stop kicking against the goads and should realise or perceive for themselves that the outcome of the elections and the formation of the coalition government has been of the Lord’s doing. Many, I believe, believe this to be so.

They are gloating that they won the highest number of seats as well as their leader amassing the highest number of votes per candidate. All very well, but by the way they are acting they are purposely dismissing the fact that the Electoral Act allows for mergers of parties therefore the coalition between

PAP, NFP, and SODELPA.

The FFP themselves attempted twice to merge with SODELPA but failed. Based on the Electoral Act, the FFP should honour and respect that PAP, NFP and SODELPA have the right to govern and to govern for all the citizens of our beloved nation.

The FFP, whether they like it or not, should understand that the coalition parties all had one thing in common and that was to bring back democracy, democracy in the true sense of the word, that was missing the last 16 years.

Democracy that is of the people, for the people and by the people. Not totalitarianism which is (of government) consisting of having only one leader or party and having complete control.

In bringing back democracy the coalition put the people first irrespective of whether they voted for them or not. It would auger well for the FFP if they acknowledge, honour and respect the status quo and if they have nothing to hide should focus on holding the coalition government accountable and transparent for the sake of all our people in an honourable, humble and respectful manner befitting good character and good leaders.
