Reuben joins Silktails

- By RODNEY DUTHIE

THE Kaiviti Silktails have signed on former Canberra Raiders and Melbourne Storm pathway player Isaiah Reuben into their 2023 roster.

Reuben spent two years at the Raiders and Storm in their pathways system in 2019, 2020 and 2021, and has begun off-season training with the Silktails in Lautoka.

Silktails head coach Wes Naiqama spoke of how impressed he is with Reuben’s abilities and attitude during this time.

“Really pleased to sign a player of Isaiah’s calibre. At 19, he’s had a wealth of experience playing abroad, having been recruited from Marist Brothers (High School) as a 16-year-old to play for the Melbourne Storm SG Ball,” said Naiqama.

“He also spent some time playing rugby in France before returning home.

“Isaiah adds size and speed to our edge and will add great depth to our backrow.

“I’ve been impressed with his attitude during preseason and look forward to working with him this year.”

Meanwhile, the Silktails will play eight matches at Churchill Park during the 2023 Ron Massey competition.

The side has spent the past two years based Mascot in Sydney because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The side opens its campaign against Penrith Brothers on March 19 at Parker St Reserve, King St.

The side will host the Canterbury Bankstorm Bulldogs in Lautoka in the second round on March 25.

Other home games are against Hills Bulls on April 15, the round nine match against St Marys on May 20, against the Penrith Brothers on May 27, against the Glebe Dirty Reds on June 17, Mounties on June 24, the Ryde Eastwood Hawks on July 15 and the Wentworthville Magpies on July 22.

The Silktails final match will be against St Marys on July 30 at St Marys Leagues Stadium.
