Business community to work together
ASSISTANT Minister in the Prime Minister’s office Sakiusa Tubuna has urged the business community in Savusavu to work together in order to achieve many better things.
In his visit last week, Mr Tubuna said working together boosted economic opportunities in the area.
“As key stakeholders and business facilities, you are our core business partner,” he said.
“Ensuring sustainable development with minimal impact on the natural environment, while encouraging economic balance will forge a way forward for a lasting relationship.”
Mr Tubuna also visited the multi-million dollar project at Nawi Island known as the Nawi Island Integrated Resort Project.
Company director Melvin Chand said work was well in progress and they were working to ensure they completed the project according to the expected timeline.
Mr Chand said as part of their environment sustainable practices, they aimed to plant 100,000 mangrove plants around the island.
“This mangrove planting program started in November last year and we’ve added 11 more hectares of land have been reserved for such planting initiative,” he said.
Mr Chand also highlighted some issues relating to government assistance and facilitation towards the project.
In his response, Mr Tubuna said Government was here to create an enabling environment for everyone including partnership with the private sector.
Nawi Island is being developed into an international super yacht marina with luxury freehold residences, a private yacht club and a world-class spa and resort, to name just a few.
