Prince Charles Park to host Drua, Rebels warm up

- By ZANZEER SINGH

THE Swire Shipping Fijian Drua side is eager to take the field against the Melbourne Rebels in the historic first-ever preseason trial match to be played at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on January 28.

This will also be the first-ever trip for the Melbourne Rebels to Fiji.

Fijian Drua head coach Mick Byrne said the practice games were always difficult. He says they know what the opposition team will bring out on the field.

“So part of going against the Melbourne

Rebels will be on how we adapt to things that we haven’t seen before and our ability to work under the pressure of the game,” he said.

“Obviously everybody likes to see a victory but for me it is about getting the performance of what we are looking for, connectivity between attack and defence.

“Our ability to stay in our systems, the ability to get our game going and bring in what we have been doing during preseason.”

Tickets for the preseason game will go on sale from Monday. The ticket prices for the game has been kept minimal with $12 for the grandstand and $6 for the embankment.

Fijian Drua head of commercial and marketing Shane Hussein said they were delighted to share with their fans as rugby returns just two weeks from now with their first trial match at home.

“It will be a great Saturday afternoon out for rugby lovers as our Drua take on an exciting Melbourne Rebels outfit packed with current and emerging Australia stars,” Hussein said.

“It will be a community feel for this trial match. Fans will also get to meet their Drua favourites after the match, which is always exciting especially for kids.

“This will also be a perfect opportunity for our fans to get accustomed to the newly introduced Drua ticketing system. Fans will be able to purchase tickets for this match directly from their phones on the Drua website using mPaisa, debit or credit cards.”

Hussein said the in-sztore ticket purchase options for this match to be rolled out in the coming days.

“We expect tickets will be snapped up pretty quickly once they go on sale next Monday and urge fans to get on to www. drua.rugby/tickets early,” he said.
