Nagasau back to help
FIJI Airways Fijiana 7s captain Rusila Nagasau is back in the travelling squad after missing out on selection for the Dubai and Cape Town tournaments on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series last month.
Nagasau will lead the Fijiana 7s to next weekend’s Hamilton 7s in New Zealand and Sydney 7s in Australia a week later.
Also back into the squad are Vani Buleki and Vasiti Solikoviti, and making her debut in Hamilton will be policewoman Maria Rokotuisiga.
Head coach Saiasi Fuli said this was another opportunity for the team to push for qualification to the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.
“We have five tournaments on the chart and Hamilton and Sydney is another opportunity not to be missed for us as we are about to depart,” Fuli said.
“We have prepared well and included some players that missed out on teh Dubai and Cape Town 7s. Rusila and Solikoviti are back and also an opportunity to expose another new kid on the block in Maria Rokotuisiga.
“I want to expose as many young players as I can and also stay in touch with our overall objective, which is to be in the top four come May this year.”
The Fijiana 7s is pooled with New Zealand, Great Britain and Papua New Guinea for the Hamilton tournament.
They take on Great Britain at 10.22am next Saturday, then face New Zealand at 2.12pm before taking on Papua New Guinea at 5.37pm.
