$4.5 million investment for imaging machine
OCEANIA Hospitals Pte Ltd now boasts a new cutting edge MRI machine, the Altea 1.5T.
A project worth a total of $4.5 million, the new imaging machine was launched on Tuesday January 17, 2023 in the presence of Minister of Health and Services Dr Atonio Lalabalavu.
According to Oceania Hospitals’ radiology team leader Farzana Murthy, the Altea 1.5T boasts a high resolution imaging capability which allows for the clear and detailed visualisation of internal organs and structures.
“This is particularly beneficial for diagnosing and monitoring conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and neurological disorders,” said Ms Murthy.
“In addition to its high resolution, the Altea 1.5T also offers a faster scan time compared to traditional MRI machines.
“This is especially important for patients who may experience anxiety or claustrophobia during the procedure, as well as for those who need to return for follow up scans.
“The altea 1.5 T is also equipped with advanced imaging techniques such as MRI angiography and MRI venography which can provide detailed images of blood vessels.
“This is particularly useful for identifying conditions such as aneurysms, blockages and other vascular abnormalities.”
According to Ms Murthy the new MRI machine offers a wide range of advantages for both patients and healthcare professionals.
“Its high resolution imaging capability, faster scan time and ability to produce a wide range of imaging sequences make it a valuable tool for accurate diagnosis and monitoring of a variety of conditions.”
The hospital currently employs expatriate techs to conduct the MRI scans and intends to train their local techs in the proper usage of the new machine.
