- By AISHA AZEEMAH

FIJI and Australia have shared a strong and enduring bilateral relationship, with extensive investment and trade ties. Through the Vuvale Partnership, we have further strengthened our partnership and elevated it to the next level.

This statement made by Deputy Prime and Minister Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, SMEs and Communications Manoa Kamikamica at a celebratory breakfast hosted by the Fiji Australia Business Council was well received by fellow guests including major industry names and the Chargé d’affaires of the Australian High Commission John Williams, and fellow Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad.

Prof Prasad said, “The new coalition government, and I can say this with a lot of conviction and commitment, we are committed to developing a stronger, much more deeper and meaningful engagement, particularly with our two important partners in the region; Australia and NZ, because we believe that a deeper and more meaningful engagement would be beneficial not only in the immediate and short term, but will be critical for our long term economic sustainability.”

The event held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva yesterday morning in celebration of Australia Day provided a networking opportunity for many local organisation heads in the hopes of more trade and business engagement between Fiji and Australia.

“Let us seize our future and delve deeper into these new opportunities to secure a better future, and one where we can achieve more together,” said Mr Kamikamica.
