Spotlight on industry
THE local tourism industry was marketed among 1500 top journalists, influencers and tourism industry professionals at the recent IMM USA – the Trav Media Summit in New York, a global networking event.
Tourism Fiji chief executive Brent Hill who presented at the event shared that the feedback was credible and provided a perfect opportunity to talk about the newest campaign — Where Happiness Comes Naturally and to really pushed Fiji to the forefront.
“It was wonderful for Fiji to have a slot at the summit, speaking alongside such heavyweights as Tourism Australia,” Mr Hill said.
“I relayed our 2022 – 24 corporate plan and our strategic priorities, progress on our sustainability plans, and our marketing plans and new campaign – Where Happiness Comes Naturally.
“The video and images really resonated well.”
Mr Hill said this was the first time for Tourism Fiji to present at the event alongside operators from Cloud 9 and Nanuku Resort and they participated alongside the US head of PR Hannah Townsend.
“The atmosphere was really buzzing.
“There is a great sense of wanting to travel, and particularly being open to new places and long-haul travel again.
“There was a lot of discussion about some of the issues that the travel industry worldwide has experienced like fuel price hikes, missing baggage, costs of airline tickets etc.
“So, it was great to be able to reiterate the wonderful work of Fiji Airways, and the overall tourism industry in Fiji.”
Mr Hill added he was also pleased to receive positive feedback in person and online from his presentation and discussions.
