THE enormous coverage the local tourism sector continues to get from influential media powerhouses in the world leads to bookings.

And Tourism Fiji chief executive Brent Hill said the rollout of the most recent brand campaign that captures Fiji as a desirable market – Where Happiness Comes Naturally, present opportunities to showcase what Fiji as to offer to the world and attract more than our traditional markets.

“The local tourism sector will benefit directly as we will aim to bring many of these journalists down to Fiji on famils,” Mr Hill shared.

“These journalists, media and content creators represent some of the biggest and most influential media titles in the world, and it’s great that Fiji is really getting noticed, getting coverage and this in turn leads to bookings.

“We’ve seen US really go from strength to strength in terms of visitor arrivals and a lot of that is due to consistent marketing and PR.

“What’s great too is that the journalists were really interested in the angles we talked about – the food diversity, the diversity of our multi-cultural society, and the alive and well culture that Fiji can celebrate.”

Discussions at the recent global networking event also centered around what Fiji has uniquely had to offer and Mr Hill said there was much interest in these elements which fit the theme of the campaign.

“So we’re looking forward to the media in the US telling these stories, and it leading to a more considered tourist, who want to ‘travel with meaning’ and come and discover Fiji and our culture, and more importantly, leave it a better place than when they got here,” said Mr Hill.
