50 women entrepreneurs to receive training
FIFTY local women entrepreneurs will be undergoing business training by qualified trainers engaged by the Centre For Excellence In Financial Inclusion (CEFI). Thanks to an agreement between CEFI and Business Link Pacific, Business Assistance Fiji (BAF) is currently in the process of selecting these 50 participants.
According to BAF general manager Ramesh Chand the training in digital financial literacy, e-commerce, business planning and debt management will be conducted online over a six month period.
“Initially, as per the agreement we had to do market research on the specific areas of study,” said Mr Chand.
This research was conducted by BAF accountant and business development officer Nitika Singh.
“We have done our research and provided (CEFI) with the research report. Now they are asking us to identify the 50 women entrepreneurs, so we are in the process of identifying the 50 women entrepreneurs and once that is done then maybe February or March this training will be coming up,” Mr Chand added.
BAF has engaged the help of
South Pacific Business Development and the Women Entrepreneurs Business Council in selecting the participants.
“Once the training is on we will be further providing that support and coaching to these women entrepreneurs and linking them to relevant service providers if they need further advice and assistance,” Mr Chand stated.
CEFI is a Papua New Guinea based NGO that conducts trainings for MSMEs with particular focus on female entrepreneurs. This is reportedly their first engagement with Fiji and will serve as a pilot program before possible expansion or repetition.
