PRINCIPAL LEGAL OFFICER - LAUTOKA
Duties of the post: Salary Scale:
The successful candidate will be responsible to the Director of Public Prosecutions in carrying out the following responsibilities; prosecuting criminal trials in the Magistrates and High Courts; prosecuting appeals before the High Court and Court of Appeal; liaising with Police with respect to issues concerning investigations; rending written opinions on evidence, charges, immunity and institution or discontinuation of cases; assisting with training and lectures; and supervising Senior Legal Officers and Legal Officers in their work. The appointee must have the ability to manage the administration and logistics of the division and its staff.
Professionally qualified under the provisions of the Legal Practitioners Act 2009. Serving officers should have at least 2 – 3 years as a Senior Legal Officer or equivalent level. Non serving applicants should have at least 6 years post admission legal experience. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in litigation and legal opinion work and demonstrated management and leadership competencies.
Band K: $59,945.18 - $76,852.80
