GOOD news for rugby league fans as the 2023 National Rugby League season will be shown live on free-to-air TV, starting tonight when Maika Sivo’s Paramatta Eels face Tui Kamikamica and the Melbourne Storms.

Mai TV yesterday announced that it had reached an agreement with Digicel Fiji for live free-toair rights for the 2023 NRL season.

This is the first time NRL matches will be aired live on Mai TV on the Walesi platform.

“This is another groundbreaking achievement for Mai TV, giving all Fijians access to the greatest rugby league competition on earth, featuring legendary rugby league clubs with rich histories such as the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Brisbane Broncos, and the best players in the world including Fiji Bati stars Api Koroisau and Viliame Kikau,” says Mai TV director Stanley Simpson.

Mai TV thanked Digicel Pacific for the commercial partnership that will enable Fijians to watch worldclass rugby league action – with at least 18 Fiji Bati rugby league stars showcasing their power and talent in the competition.

Digicel Fiji CEO Farid Mohammed said rugby league had a strong following in Fiji and a rich history of Fijian players competing in the NRL.

Mai TV’s Live telecast will begin with round one today at 8.50pm. NRL fans will get to watch the Paramatta Eels take on the Melbourne Storm at Commonwealth Bank Stadium in Sydney, Australia. The second live telecast will be on Sunday at 7.15pm when the Wests Tigers take on the Gold Coast Titans at Leichhardt Oval in Lilyfield, Australia.

Mai TV will air two Live games every week with replays over the 31-week period. Mai TV can be viewed on Channel 4 of the Walesi digital platform.
