Ba faces Blues

TWENTY-ONE time champions Ba has been focusing their defence pattern during its preparatio­n this week to counter the rampant Lautoka side in the Digicel Fiji Premier League tomorrow. Lautoka leads the DFPL points table together with Rewa but has a better goal differenti­al. Ba and Lautoka will face off at the Fiji Football Academy ground in Namosau at 3pm. In this weekend’s other fixtures, Labasa will host Nadi at Subrial Park at 1.30pm tomorrow. On Sunday, Nadroga and Tavua will clash at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka at 3pm. In a double header at the Uprising Sports Complex in Navua, Suva will play Tailevu Naitasiri at 1pm while the hosts take on Rewa at 3pm.

Sports award

A RETAIL outlet has stepped in to support the 2022 Fiji Sports Awards by sponsoring the Young Female Athlete of the Year award. This marks the second occasion that Tappoo Group has supported this category which recognises the outstandin­g achievemen­ts of Fiji’s rising female athletes. Company executive director Nikhil Tappoo encouraged athletes to perform at the highest levels and to the best of their abilities. The awards will be held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva on March 25.

Tough pools

FIJI 7s club powerhouse­s Army Green and Wardens will face-off during pool play of the 47th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament. The tournament will be held next weekend at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Joining the two teams in Pool L is Dominion Brothers. A Fiji team is in Pool I with Kombat Uluinayau and Police White. Police Blue tops Pool K with Marist and Army Red. Post Fiji EMS Tabadamu is in Pool J with Raiwasa Taveuni and Chill Bar Lami Cavaliers. There are 44 men’s teams competing this year.

Club to host golfers

THE Ba Golf Club will host the Anita Jewellers-sponsored 666 format stableford tournament at the Fiji Sugar Corporatio­n Rarawai Course on Sunday. Registrati­on: 10am. Tee off: 10.30am.
