Here is a chronologi­cal order of events at the installati­on of Ratu Epenisa

WHAT WENT DOWN

■ 6.18am — Ministry of iTaukei Affairs officials and government officials arrived on Bau Island;

■ 8.06am — Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica along with senior government officials arrived on the island;

■ 9am — PM Sitiveni Rabuka arrived on the island with his wife Sulueti Rabuka. He presented a sevusevu to Turaga Na Masau Ratu Kinijoji Toganivalu — the chief herald of Roko Tui Bau Ratu Timoci Tavanavanu­a;

■ 9.45am — Mr Rabuka and senior government officials made their way to Ratu Cakobau Memorial Church;

■ 10.01am — Ratu Epenisa Cakobau with his wife, Adi Varanisese Cakobau and their children made their way to church;

■ 10.15am — President of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma the Rev Ili Vunisuwai arrived at the church and began the service;

■ 12.28am — Church service ended — Ratu Epenisa was escorted to Mateweilag­i;

■ 1.10pm — Dr Ratu Joji Malani vacated the vatanitawa­ke escorted by traditiona­l warriors and followed by his family.

■ 1.14pm — Dr Ratu Joji took a whales tooth to the chiefly residence of Mateiwaleg­i to bring Ratu Epenisa to the shed where he was installed;

■ 1.35pm — Ratu Epenisa, draped in masi was escorted to the shed 1.48pm;

■ Roko Tui Bau Ratu Timoci Tavanavanu­a was escorted to the shed to conduct the veivagunuv­i – to offer Ratu Epenisa the traditiona­l and sacred bowl of yaqona;

■ 1.50 — Ratu Epenisa accepted the bowl of yaqona, this was also done by his matanivanu­a Ratu Aisea Jack Komaitai.

■ 2.24pm — Native Lands Commission (Veitarogi Vanua) head Apimeleki Toki officially confirmed that Ratu Epenisa Seru Cakobau has been recognised as na Turaga na Vunivalu na Tui Kaba

■ 2.48 — Meke performanc­es to mark the historic event.
