Natau attends first live Super Rugby match

- By MELI LADDPETER

WHILE many have been digging their pockets over the past week to be able to witness the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua and Crusaders match, Aporosa Natau did not spend a single dollar to watch history take place at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

“I am very blessed to be here today. If I came to watch the game at my own expense, I would have paid over a hundred dollars,” the 56-year-old shared.

Working as a watchman at the home of an England national, Natau said his employer had offered him free tickets to watch the Drua game in Lautoka.

“This was sometime last week, my boss came and asked me if I wanted to watch the game but I told him that I had no money to do so. I was surprised when he offered me tickets.”

Traveling from Natunuku in Ba, Natau said an extra ticket was also offered to his oldest son.

“They gave us free transport and ticket.”

Being his first time to a Super Rugby match, Natau said the experience would be something he would remember forever.

He also mentioned that he has never missed a Fijian Drua match as he would always try to watch their games live.

“They have improved so much since last year and for them to win against the best in Super Rugby just made me proud to be a Fijian.”

With another two upcoming Drua games in Lautoka in the coming months, Natau said he would start saving whatever money he could be able to attend those games.

“I just want to thank God for allowing me to witness one of the greatest games the Fijian Drua has ever played. I also want to thank my boss for blessing me with this opportunity of a lifetime.”
