Kohli ends drought

THREE professional international fights have been confirmed on March 25 when the Lewis-Hill Boxing Promotion starts its 2023 season at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva.

Fiji boxing champion, Winston Hill, who will be promoting the event, said fans could expect a very exciting “fist fight” competition and encouraged supporters to turn up in numbers.

“This is going to be a very exciting event as we have three international boxers, who will be there on March 25,” he said.

In the main boxing bout, Joseph Kwadjo will be taking on all-time rival Isikeli “Bullet” Senidoko.

According to Hill, the program will feature 10 amateur fights before the main bout.

“We’re very excited to get the event started as many of our local fighters have been training for the past few weeks and are ready to take to the ring.”

Unfortunately, Hill said he would not be participating in any of the fights because he had been busy managing the paperwork and other specifics regarding the event.

“I’ve had to get contracts sorted out, and reach out to fighters who were spread out all over Viti Levu and I just didn’t have the time and energy to prepare well so I’ll be stepping out on this one. I need to be fully prepared, trained, and well-equipped if I was to fight.”

The fight is scheduled to start at 3pm with tickets being sold at Boxfit headquarters at 63 Brewster St, Suva.

Grandstand tickets for children will be $15 each while adults are at $30. For the VIP floor, tickets will be $50 flat.

VIRAT Kohli ended his agonising wait for a Test century with a painstaking 186 as India racked up 571 to claim a lead of 91 in the fourth and final test against Australia.

The hosts, who lead the series 2-1, strung together six 50-plus partnerships at the top to effectively put themselves in an unbeatable position heading into the final day of the contest.

Having conceded a handy first-innings lead, Australia finished day four on three for no loss.

The touring side sent nightwatchman Matt Kuhnemann to open with Travis Head after in-form opener Usman Khawaja hurt his knee while fielding.

Kuhnemann, who survived 18 balls, was nearly caught on two occasions but Australia somehow saw off the final six overs without any damage.

Earlier, India lost Ravindra Jadeja (28) after resuming on 289-3 but Kohli and KS Bharat denied Australia another success in that slow-moving session.
