Make a list
Lavenia shops for her sister in Levuka
Post Shop is by far the best place to buy school items
IT’S that time of the year when parents, guardians and students flood shops for the best prices on textbooks, uniforms, shoes, stationary and other necessities.
In light of the ‘high cost of living’ most families would go from one shop to another for the best price and bargains on offer. Every parent wants the best for their child and getting quality brands is always a priority. Around this time of the year shoerepair retailers and tailors are in demand as well.
There is always a queue at shops who retial school uniforms. One of those shoppers is Lavenia Kalou, 21. She helped her parents during school shopping this year for her younger sister in Levuka.
She is originally from Bureta Village in Levuka and is in Suva to further her education.
“My sister and parents all live in Levuka while I stayed in Suva with our relatives to pursue my tertiary education at the University of the South Pacific,” she said.
Lavenia said she sent over her sister’s school items by boat as she prepares for Year 4 in primary school level.
She said school textbooks, exercise books and other school items were much cheaper in Suva compared to shops in Levuka.
“And Suva has a wide range of assorted school stationaries to choose from that’s why we prefer Suva.
“This year my parents sent me money to shop.”
From her experience, Lavenia said the Post Shop had the best prices on exercise books.
She said after visiting a few other shops around Suva, she found the Post Shop was the best place to shop for school stationeries.
“The Post Shop is by far the best place to buy school items. They have the best prices and quality brands,” she said.
The best advice for parents during this season is to always remember to make a list of all the items needed to avoid
overspending.
