Ram Lalla celebration
AS India and the global Hindu diaspora eagerly anticipates the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Uttar Pradesh next Monday, a series of celebrations are also being organised in the country.
On the occasion of Ram Lalla Utsav (festival), which was headed by Fiji Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha and the Indian High Commission in Fiji, Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection Sashi Kiran was chief guest at the Ayodhya Mandir in Nadi where a troupe from Ayodhyapuri in India performed.
Ms Kiran said the holy Ramayana and its stories served as a beacon of hope for her forefathers and gave them strength during a difficult indenture period.
“Our diaspora around the world has mandalis and the teachings of Ramayan continue,” she said.
“This rejuvenation around the world has come at a crucial time in our world as it faces many challenges.
“As waves of prayer and joy flows around the world on the occasion of the inauguration of Ram temple in Ayodhya, it is time to reflect and invite Ram into our hearts, in our actions, in our lives, beyond just worshipping his name.”
Ms Kiran said there were many beautiful lessons from the Ramayana for everyone, and while we celebrate, we must reflect and imbibe the valuable lessons in our lives.
“At such a young age, Lord Rama and his brothers were sent to Gurukul to prepare for the world.
“We also send our children for education and are very focussed that they grow and become successful in life, but spiritual education is key for their holistic development.”
Ms Kiran said these values were key to shaping the way they live and conduct themselves.
