Ba prepares for tough battle

THE three-day Member Associatio­n Youth Futsal Certificat­e Course kicked off at the Fiji FA headquarte­rs in Vatuwaqa yesterday.

The course aims to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to initiate futsal clubs in their respective schools.

Course coordinato­r and Fiji Futsal Head Coach Jerry San explain the threeday workshop is to assist teachers to start up futsal clubs in their respective schools.

“The three days’ workshop involves teachers so we can have school a school league.

“In this workshop we educate teachers so when they go back to their schools they form their league club and we have our league in second or third week of school,” San said.

With 20 participan­ts engaged in the course, including teachers, technical staff, and volunteers, the program aims to foster futsal developmen­t in the country.

ROOSTER Chicken Ba Football Club gears up for a tough battle in the upcoming Pillay Garments Champion versus Champion Series, facing Lautoka at Churchill Park this Sunday.

However, the team has encountere­d obstacles this week due to unfavourab­le weather.

Interim coach Sunil Kumar said; “The weather is not on our side, there has been heavy rain throughout the week that has disrupted our preparatio­ns,” Kumar said.

Despite the setbacks, Kumar commended the players for their commitment during training, considerin­g it a positive sign.

“The players have been coming to train which is a positive sign for us; our main focus now is to get the boys to gel in and strengthen team bonding,” he added.

In a bid to bolster their squad, Ba has secured three new players under the transfer window: Ratu Dau, Kalivati Sivoi, and Ruel Grayven.

As anticipati­on builds for the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion (CVC) series, ticket pre-sales have officially begun at the Lautoka City Council office.

Football fans can secure their seats for the highly-anticipate­d clash between Lautoka FC and Rooster Chicken Ba FC.

Tickets are priced at $6 for adults, with free entry for children under 10

Fiji FA general manager operations Anushil Kumar said the Pillay Garments CVC series promises to be a highlight for football fans, marking the beginning of what is expected to be an action-packed season.

“The clash between Lautoka FC and Ba FC has always been a cracker, and this is the season opener that fans have been eagerly awaiting.

“With ticket pre-sales, it’s a chance for football enthusiast­s to secure their tickets in advance and avoid long queues on match day.”
