It’s OK to take it slow

Esther chooses to work and school later

-

NO matter the age, everyone has a chance to achieve their dreams. Esther Stone Adituraga Kalouniuca is one woman who chooses to work smart instead of working hard.

Since day one, the 21-year-old has wanted to become a fashion designer, but due to uncertain circumstances she decided to put that dream on hold and start working to earn money for herself.

Esther’s educational background consists of moving from school to school, but that was not a problem because in her eyes her childhood experience was an adventurous one.

She later continued high school at Mahatma Gandhi High from 2016 until 2020.

After completing her primary and secondary education, the adventurous young woman decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree in commerce banking and human resources, unfortunately studies had to be cut short due to her decision to start working.

“In 2021, I began my bachelors in commerce banking and human resource, but then I decided to work,” said Esther.

She said putting her studies on a hold to work was the smartest decision she has ever made.

“Right now, in this day and age, it is really hard to find a job, so I made the decision to search for a job and once that job was confirmed, I could then continue studying.

“Because, what if after graduating I’m not able to find a job and I might be stuck at home while at the same time job hunting.”

In regards to her dream of becoming a fashion designer, it hasn’t faded and hopefully come true one day.

“I have always wanted to be in the fashion business as a designer making my own clothing business. This dream of mine is something that I think about everyday.

“Since I was small, my mother always dressed me up hence my fascination for stylish clothing trends.”

After many job hunts, she finally found one at the Ministry of Justice and the fun fact is that she is the youngest employee there.

“I really want to focus on my work in order to fully maximise my potential and maybe one day I will make that lifelong dream come true,”

She said the support from her family has been great and she could not imagine a world without them.

“My family and friends have been so kind to support me in all I do and sometimes there can be disagreements, but I understand that it is out of good intentions.”

Aside from work she enjoys socialising with friends.

Esther said it was better to take things slow and let the events happen naturally on their own .

“Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.

“I don’t go too far ahead of myself to predict my future because I feel that letting things happen on their own is a blessing enough for me.”

Esther advises all women that it is never too late to follow their dreams and it’s OK to put it on hold to achieve something else because as long as that dream is still alive in your heart and soul nothing is impossible in this world.

“Anything is possible, so don’t let your current situation affect your future ambitions despite your age.

“It doesn’t matter if you are a single mother or married. Women have the power to support themselves and not depend on others.

Right now, in this day and age, it is really hard to find a job, so I made the decision to search for a job and once that job was confirmed, I could then continue studying
