The Office of the Director of Public Prosecu ons (“ODPP”) is responsibl­e for prosecu ng appeals before the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. In addi on, all High Court trials in Fiji are prosecuted by State Counsel who also handle appeals to the High Courts at Suva, Lautoka and Labasa. Cases of special difficulty or of public interest in the Magistrate­s’ courts are processed by the ODPP. Other significan­t work of the ODPP includes the determina on of complaints against police and prisons officers, the provision of wri en advice to the Commission­er of Police, to the Director C.I.D, and to other government department­s and statutory organisa ons, the delivery of lectures at the Police Academy, and the handling of complaints from members of the public concerning their cases. The Director of Public Prosecu ons (“DPP”) also considers wri en representa ons concerning criminal cases from aggrieved persons, defendants, or from their lawyers.

ACCOUNTS CLERK (SUVA) – 1 POST

The appointee will be responsibl­e to the Director of Public Prosecu ons (DPP) through the Director Human Resources & Corporate Services (DHR&CS) and Accountant by providing effec ve and efficient management of accoun ng procedures to ensure the proper disburseme­nt and u lisa on of government funds. The appointee will assist the Accountant for mely payment of salary and wages to all staff; includes prepara on of salary/wages inputs for deduc on, adjustment and cessa on; raising journal vouchers for adjustment­s; check and verify edits report for payroll; process mesheets for wage earners; process monthly FNPF payment; maintenanc­e of records and files; revenue collec on and bank lodgements; purchasing of sta onery/ stock and maintainin­g stock file in a mely manner; a end to queries in respect of salary/wages; and any other du es that may be assigned by the DHR/CS and Accountant. Understand­ing of the FMIS would be advantageo­us.

A pass in Fiji Seventh Form Examina on (FSFE) or Fiji School Leaving Cer ficate (FSLC) or equivalent ter ary qualifica on and Government payroll knowledge.

Band C - $14,095.31 – $15,489.35

This position requires a dynamic individual with an excellent client service orientatio­n and outstandin­g interperso­nal and communicat­ion skills.

Successful candidate must have at least 5 years experience in commercial legal practice.

The candidate must be able to demonstrat­e knowledge, skills and abilities in the following areas:

• Provide high quality advice and representa­tion in Court;

• Drafting of court documents, conveyanci­ng and research work; and

• Develop good working relationsh­ip with clients, be hardworkin­g, team player, good communicat­ion skills and able to meet deadlines.

A competitiv­e salary commensura­te with experience will be offered.
