Haaland to miss game
Eatery steps up to back the Blues for CVC series
MANCHESTER City striker Erling Haaland will miss their FA Cup fourth round game with Tottenham Hotspur, but is close to a return to action, manager Pep Guardiola said yesterday.
Haaland has missed City’s last nine games in all competitions with a foot injury, and Guardiola is prepared to wait until the Norwegian forward is fully recovered. “He is on the verge to come back,” Guardiola told reporters.
A FAST food company has stepped forward to provide substantial support to the Lautoka football club just in time for the opening round of the Pillay Garments Champions versus Champions (CVC) Series.
Tigers Group director Dharmendra Kumar expressed excitement about backing Lautoka FC, emphasizing that sponsorship is a way of giving back to the people of city who have supported their business over the past 25 years.
“This sponsorship is for the people in Lautoka. We started the business 25 years ago and the people of Lautoka have been coming in to support our business, so this is the way of giving back to them.
“We are happy to help the team in this CVC series,” Kumar said.
Receiving the cheque yesterday was Lautoka FC vice president Narayan Reddy.
While the exact sponsorship figure remains undisclosed, Reddy expressed gratitude for Tigers’ continuous support.
“We thank Tigers for fully sponsoring us in this CVC.
“They have been with us during IDC and BOG last year and now they have come on board to fully sponsor us,” Reddy said.
The first round of CVC between Lautoka and Ba kicks off at 3pm tomorrow at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
