Table tennis camp a success
THE Fiji Table Tennis Association training camp ended on Friday, and it was a successful and inspiring experience for all the participants.
The camp, which was held at Vodafone Arena in Suva, attracted players as young as eight years old who trained under the guidance of former national high-performance coach of Fiji and Thailand, Steve Reilly.
One of the participants, Jai Chauhan, a Commonwealth Games representative, shared his love for the sport and his dedication to it since the age of eight.
He emphasized the importance of taking a break for exams but returning to the sport with a renewed passion.
Jai Chauhan also showcased his skills during the camp, winning all of his matches in the U19 mixed grade category.
“It has been a while I have then I started playing again, it is good to see that I still got it and hopefully have a chance to represent Fiji again this year,” said Chauhan.
Chauhan’s messages encouraging others to join the sport is commendable. As the eldest player at 17 years old, he aims to raise awareness and inspire other kids to try table tennis.
“Looking to invite other players to come join the sport, there is a lot to learn from it and a lot of opportunity,” he added.
The collaborative spirit and support among the participants during the camp are also worth noting.
Training together and helping each other will undoubtedly contribute to their collective success in upcoming tournaments, including the Oceania Championships and other international events.
In the results Jai Chauhan won his first match against Jason Zhang in three sets 11-6,11-8,117, second game against Cheng Zhou 11-5,11-6,118, and final match with Marshal Bamu Domolomo 11-1,11-2,11-1.
