MOU advances landowners’ economic empowerment
A MEMORANDUM of understanding (MOU) between the Land Transport Authority and the iTaukei Lands Trust Board was signed last Friday in Suva.
The MOU signifies a collaborative commitment to advance landowners’ economic empowerment and foster strategic information sharing between LTA and TLTB.
Representatives from respective organisations signed a testament to the mutual dedication to fostering inclusive development marked by enthusiasm for the collaborative potential it holds.
LTA acting chief executive officer Irimaia Rokowasa said the agreement brought about a framework for co-sharing vital information that would play a pivotal role in facilitating access to development opportunities and enhancing the economic participation of landowners. “By engaging in a collaborative exchange of information, the LTA and TLTB aim to bridge gaps and create synergies that will contribute to inclusive and sustainable development,” he said.
“The MOU aligns with the Fijian Government’s development action plans where both the LTA and TLTB recognise the importance of playing supportive roles in cultivating creative business opportunities.”
Mr Rokosawa said the partnership focused on creating innovation ventures that not only adhered to governmental priorities but also contributed to the overall economic advancement of the Fijian people.
“This MOU reflects a shared commitment to realising economic empowerment for landowners and underscores the organisations dedication to advancing the socio-economic landscape of Fiji.”
Under the MOU, respective organisations agree to provide and deliver services required of landowners in a manner that is transparent, accountable, and effective, in accordance with Fiji’s applicable laws.
