$40k sponsorshi­p for sevens tourney

THE launch of the next three Fiji Bitter 7s Series Tournament­s by Paradise Beverages is an exciting developmen­t for the rugby community in Fiji.

Paradise Beverages provided a total of $65,000 sponsorshi­p for the tournament­s — $40,000 for the Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s, $10,000 for the Fiji Bitter Tabadamu 7s, and $15,000 for Fiji Bitter Nahehevia 7s.

The Fiji Bitter Nahehevia 7s tournament will kick off the series on February 9-10 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, followed by the Fiji Bitter Tabadamu 7s tournament on February 15-16 at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori, and the Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s tournament on February 16-17.

These tournament­s will undoubtedl­y provide thrilling rugby action and an opportunit­y for local communitie­s to come together and support their teams.

Paradise Beverages general manager Mike Spencer, emphasised that the Fiji Bitter 7s series is not only about showcasing rugby talent, but also about promoting community developmen­t.

The sponsorshi­p by Paradise Beverages is aimed at nurturing the growth and wellbeing of local communitie­s, highlighti­ng the company’s commitment to supporting not just rugby, but also the wider community.

The launch of these tournament­s represents an exciting opportunit­y for rugby fans and communitie­s in Fiji.

The Fiji Bitter 7s series continues to be a significan­t event in the rugby calendar, and with the support of Paradise Beverages, it promises to be an event that celebrates both sporting excellence and community engagement.

The launch was held yesterday at Paradise Beverages head office in Walu Bay.

PARADISE Beverages has provided a generous sponsorshi­p of $40,000 for the 37th Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s tournament, which will be held from February 16-17 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

With the confirmati­on of three overseas teams in Wallis and Futuna, New Caledonia, and the Japan developmen­t team, the tournament is sure to attract attention and showcase a diverse range of talent.

The launch of the tournament at the Paradise Beverages (Fiji) Ltd headquarte­rs in Walu Bay yesterday was a testament to the enduring legacy of Fijian rugby.

Mike Spencer, the general manager of Paradise Beverages, emphasised that the competitio­n has evolved into a symbol of sporting excellence, cultural vibrancy, and community cohesion over the years.

“As we prepare for this milestone tournament, we eagerly anticipate the convergenc­e of talent, tradition, and community spirit on the rugby field,” said Spencer.

Eparama Silo, the president of Nawaka Rugby Club highlighte­d the significan­ce of the tournament as a celebratio­n of community, players, and the resilience and camaraderi­e that had been built over the past decade.

“The tournament boasts an impressive line-up, with 48 men’s teams, 24 under-20 teams, eight women’s teams, and four fellow Fijian teams participat­ing, making it a truly inclusive and diverse event,” said Silo.

“The support from Fiji Bitter as the sponsor of the tournament has been crucial in making the event a cornerston­e of Fijian rugby history,” Silo said.

“Their unwavering support has helped the tournament to thrive and become a significan­t part of the sporting calendar in Fiji.”

As the tournament celebrates its 37th year, it is set to captivate audiences at Prince Charles Park.
