FRU SUPPORTS COACHING STAFF, PLAYERS
THE Fiji Rugby Union remains fully committed to supporting its current coaching staff and players, fostering a positive environment for all its national teams.
FRU chairman Peter Mazey said following every tournament, the High-Performance Unit general manager B-J Mather and the FRU board conduct a review, meeting with the coaches and the teams, the Fiji Airways 7s teams in this instance.
“This review aims to assess the team’s performance and identify areas for improvement,” Mazey said in a statement released by FRU yesterday.
He confirmed any decisions regarding the coaching staff would only be made after thorough discussions with all parties including players and support staff.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Rugby Football Union Trust Board convened a scheduled meeting on Monday, January 29 wherein discussions were centred around the regular operational matters concerning the Rugby House.
Mazey confirms the information circulating in various media outlets has been misconstrued, and the board wishes to clarify the situation to avoid any confusion amongst the public especially as this is affecting our players.
Mazey said, ‘Yesterday’s (Monday’s) board meeting, we met to receive departmental reports, operations budgets for 2024 and to review this year’s domestic tournament plans as we get ready to meet Union members tomorrow (today).”
The Union appreciates the support of its fans and urges everyone to rely on official announcements for accurate information about the organisation.
The Fiji 7s teams returned from Australia yesterday without men’s coach Ben Gollings who is with his family and will return later.
The Fiji 7s men’s and women’s teams will now prepare for the Vancouver 7s in Canada from February 23-25.
