Suva sides ready to defend titles
THE Suva Volleyball men’s and women’s teams are gearing up to defend their titles at the upcoming HBK Vulaca Championship this weekend.
This championship is a significant event for the association and all participating teams, not only as a competitive sporting event, but also as a commitment to fostering excellence in volleyball within the region.
Vice-president Semaima Lagilagi highlighted the success of the previous season, with an impressive total of 17 men’s and 16 women’s teams registered for the upcoming season.
The overwhelming response resulted in registrations concluding ahead of schedule, demonstrating the growth and enthusiasm within the volleyball community.
As the defending champion in both categories, the Suva Volleyball Association is eager to defend its crown at the HBK Vulaca Championship.
“With the addition of new clubs and the discovery of raw talent, the new season promises to be an exhilarating journey for all involved,” said Lagilagi.
“The association is also focusing on capacity building for its development teams, preparing them for upcoming regional games in both beach volleyball and indoor games.
“This emphasis on continuous improvement and volleyball excellence highlights the association’s dedication to the sport and its players.”
The association extended its appreciation to the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre, Fiji Water, Juice Fiji, and Rosy Hearts Cakes for their support throughout the season.
Lagilagi said their commitment is integral to the success of Suva Volleyball, and the association looks forward to continued collaboration with these organisations.
The HBK Vulaca Championship will be played this Friday and Saturday at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva.
