‘Waka Family’ to attend convention

-

IN the vibrant landscape of Fiji’s community-driven initiatives, one couple’s remarkable journey is set to take centre stage as we approach the eagerly awaited WIN Convention 2024.

Jonathan Batisarisari and wife Stephanie, the dynamic duo behind “The Waka Family,” have emerged as a beacon of inspiration, embodying the spirit of entrepreneurship and community empowerment that lies at the heart of this upcoming convention.

The couple’s story began in a small town in Saskatchewan, Canada, and unfolded into a life journey that eventually brought them to the lush landscapes of British Columbia.

Their thriving business and a growing family, including two sons, Eliki and Sevania, painted a picture of success. However, Jonathan, originally from Fiji, felt a strong calling to give back to his homeland.

Motivated by the desire to address the challenges faced by Fijians, particularly the impact of people leaving for work abroad, Jonathan and Stephanie made a life-altering decision in March 2020.

They packed their bags, relocated to Fiji, and embarked on a mission to create employment opportunities and contribute meaningfully to their community.

Their commitment took shape through various ventures, including a farm in Vanua Levu and a flourishing coffee shop, which is set to expand in the near future.

However, the couple’s vision extended beyond their personal ventures. Recognising a gap in social media content creation, they launched “The Waka Family” page, leveraging the power of digital platforms to promote local businesses and share their Fijian village journey.

As we build anticipation for WIN Convention 2024, Jonathan and Stephanie’s story serves as a prelude to the themes of entrepreneurship, innovation, and community engagement that will undoubtedly be at the forefront of this year’s event.

Their efforts have not only created economic opportunities but have also become a catalyst for inspiring others to reconnect with their roots and explore avenues for positive change.

In a recent development, Jonathan and Stephanie have founded a media company dedicated to supporting small businesses and NGOs, offering a platform for them to share their stories and reach a wider audience.

This initiative aligns seamlessly with the ethos of WIN Convention — empowering individuals and organisations to make a lasting impact on their communities. As we eagerly await the unfolding of WIN Convention 2024, “The Waka Family” stands as a testament to the transformative power of passion, resilience, and a commitment to community welfare.

Join us in celebrating their journey and get ready to be inspired by the countless stories of innovation and empowerment that will unfold at the convention this year.

The stage is set, and the Waka Family will be speaking on Saturday, March 23 at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

The Women Entrepreneurs in Business Council, a council under the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation, is looking forward for another successful convention.

This year’s theme, “Revitalise for Resilience: Fostering Inclusive
