Kiran calls for individual prosperity and peace to build national harmony

ONLY when every home achieves prosperity and peace will the nation be peaceful and prosperous.

Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection Sashi Kiran said this while addressing the Shree Ram Lalla Utsav celebratio­n held at Rishikul Sanatan College in Nasinu on Sunday, January 21.

“As celebratio­ns for consecrati­on of a temple of Lord Rama in Ayodhya continues in the coming week, let us be reminded of the many lessons in the Holy Ramayana,” she said.

“I take this opportunit­y to call on each of us to try and live the principles and imbibe the teachings of the Lord.”

The Assistant Minister for Women highlighte­d that every character in the Holy book were high achievers.

“Ravana had attained many boons, but his downfall was pride.

“As we journey through life, it is important that we reflect on our daily actions and try to improve ourselves.

“Too often we are surrounded by people who praise us, and we may not realise our need to improve.

“Therefore, it’s also very important to surround ourselves with people who are true to the principles and help us journey to a better life.”

She also urged priests who were in attendance to continue their spiritual guidance of their followers and also assist in social issues faced.

“Lord Rama learnt his values at a young age.

“Our forefather­s had limited resources, yet they carried values across generation­s.

“Today we have technology that can be used to reach to our young generation to help with virtues.

“While I wish everyone much joy, it’s important that each of us strive for harmony and peace in every home, only when every home achieves prosperity and peace will the nation be peaceful and prosperous.”

The Shree Ram Lalla Utsav celebratio­ns held at Rishikul Sanatan College was organised by the Shree Sanatan Dharam Purohit Brahman Sabha Fiji and was attended by close to 400 people.
