Partners to offer unique platform

- By MERI RADINIBARAVI

OUTSOURCE Fiji will be partnering with New Zealand-based management and technology consulting company Duco Consultancy to develop a learning management system (LMS) platform that will provide capacity building opportunities for locals.

Outsource Fiji executive director Sagufta Janif said the platform would allow locals to self-assess themselves for free and join the outsource industry.

“We are going to partner on developing the LMS platform so we can enhance the capacity building opportunities for the people of Fiji and get them into the outsourcing industry,” Ms Janif said.

“This platform will have those specific courses that our businesses, our BPOs (business process outsourcing) or members are looking for. Things like probably specific e-commerce management or software design or working with Excel.

“Because of the learning management system, people don’t have to travel all the way to the universities, they can just do it at home, at their own time and pace. That’s what we want to encourage.”

Duco Consultancy founder and chief executive officer Chandan Ohri said the development of the platform was part of their corporate social responsibility, so there won’t be any monetary aspects to it.

“What we are finding globally is that there are a lot of industry credentials and industry training that students have to, or people have to continuously do, even after leaving universities.

“Whether it’s understanding social media, understanding security, financial well-being and so on, these are very niche courses that Outsource Fiji can host on learning management solution and then the participants, or the students can actually do them at their own pace, at their own time.”

The platform will also have in-built badges which participants could receive once they have successfully completed an online course.
