Fiji expects 26 ships

FOR the month of February 26 vessels are expected to call port in Lautoka. According to Fiji Ports Terminal monthly schedule, three cruiseship­s arrived in the country from February 1 to February 5. From February 1 to February 6, five containers­hips and a container-RoRo vessel also called port. The schedule noted that two containers­hips MSC Kanu F and PFL Matai are expected to arrive tomorrow (February 8).

From February 10 to February 24, 10 more containers­hips are expected to call port with the last container-RoRo vessel arriving on the 24th as well.

Other vessels that are expected to arrive in Lautoka include four cruise ships Arcadia, Majestic Princess, MS Seven Seas Mariner, and Queen Elizabeth. Arcadia is a mid-sized ship in the P&O Cruises fleet that is exclusivel­y for adults that started sailing in 2005 and has a normal operating capacity of 2094 guests and 866 crew.

MS Seven Seas Mariner, a cruise ship operated by Regent Seven Seas Cruises caters for 696 guests and was the first all-suite, all-balcony ship in the world. Cruise ship Majestic Princess on the other hand is a British registered Royal-Class cruise ship operated by Princess Cruises and has the highest carrying capacity compared to the previous two ships of 3560.

The last ship to arrive for the month will be Queen Elizabeth which is a luxury cruise ship Vista class operated by the Cunard Line, that was launched in 2010 and has a carrying capacity of 2081 guests.

The cruise ships are also anticipate­d to stop at the Suva Port.
