AN empowerment training workshop was conducted to enhance essential social skills, behaviour, boost self-esteem and improve academic achievements.

Youths from around Nasinu participated in a Law and Order and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights training.

The participants also learned about First Aid during the one week program.

The workshop ended on Monday with the youths' receiving certificates of completion.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports divisional manager central, Etuate Bari handed the participants their certificates and congratulated them on their commitment to learning.

According to a Ministry statement Mr Bari said the program aimed to equip young individuals with essential social skills and to increase their self-efficacy.

"Through the sessions on Law and Order, our young participants have gained a deeper understanding of their rights and responsibilities as citizens of Fiji," he said.

"They have learned about the importance of maintaining law and order in their communities and the role they can play in ensuring a safe and secure society for all.

"I trust that this knowledge will empower them to become responsible and law-abiding citizens, contributing positively to the development of our nation."

Mr. Bari said the sessions on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights have provided the youth with vital information and education on their sexual and reproductive health.

"It is crucial for our young people to be equipped with accurate and comprehensive knowledge, enabling them to make informed decisions regarding their lives and bodies," he said.

"By fostering a culture of open dialogue and providing access to resources, we can empower our youth to take control of their sexual and reproductive health choices."

On the First Aid training, Mr Bari said it equipped the participants with potentially life-saving skills, saying that accidents and emergencies can occur anywhere and at any time, and having individuals in our communities who are trained in first aid can make a significant difference in saving lives.

The trainees are members from seven registered youth clubs - the Laqere Youth Club, the Breakthrough Youth Club, the Laqere Evergreen Youth Club, the Taonivou Youth Club, the Valelevu HART Youth Club, the Naulukarua Youth Club, and the Navinaka Youth Club.
