V’ball tourney shows goodwill
THE Naidrodro Volleyball Association is set to ignite the spirit of competition and community engagement as they gear up for their volleyball competition tomorrow.
The event serves as a crucial step in realising their vision of enhancing youth lifestyles and nurturing volleyball talents within the community.
With a primary goal of channelling the energy of youths into sports to help reduce crime rates, the tournament was rescheduled from last month because of unfavourable weather.
Organisers are now optimistic about a competitive and thrilling event tomorrow.
Organiser Lemeki Tabusoi confirmed the tournament date and announced a minimised entry fee as a gesture of goodwill.
“The two clubs Billabong Brothers and Rebels have decided to minimise our entry fee for Saturday, February 10. We apologise for the previous cancellation, and we hope that this minimised fee might strengthen our relationship,” Tabusoi said.
In addition to promoting sportsmanship, the tournament organisers are implementing strict rules. Teams are required to wear proper uniforms, and footwear, and ensure players have water bottles and caps.
The emphasis is on fair play, urging players to stick to their designated teams until the final, with the official decision being absolute.
Taking a stern stance on discipline, Tabusoi stated, “We take protests seriously, we will listen to complaints and act on serious matters such as brawls which can lead to disqualification and suspension.”
The winner of the tournament receives $200 and $100 is for the runner-up.
