Yasawa poised for top comp
IN the spirited realm of women’s rugby, the Yasawa women’s team is poised for an ambitious campaign, setting their sights on a coveted spot in the top four of the ANZ Marama Challenge.
Head coach Taione Ratu, the driving force behind the team’s aspirations, affirmed the unwavering commitment of his players.
The team, a dynamic blend of seasoned players and fresh faces, has undergone strategic changes. Ratu acknowledged the influx of new talent.
“Our aim this year is to finish in the top four and remain there. The ladies have been working hard and putting all their effort into training.
“We have some new players joining the team this year, some have left from last season, but these new players know what is expected of them,” Ratu said.
Ratu started coaching the Yasawa women’s team in 2021 in the Marama challenge, 2022 Yasawa played in the final, and last year they lost to Namosi in the semi-finals, but Ratu said finishing in the top four will depend on the mood of the players.
With a mission firmly set at the outset of this year, the team marches forward with relentless determination.
“We have set our mission beginning of this year and we have been working towards it; the team is aware and finishing in the top four will depend on the mood of the players.”
