Wet weather spoils fun day plans

- BY ANASILINI NATOGA

THE Kaiviti Silktails’ much-anticipated family fun day, originally scheduled for today, has been postponed.

Head coach Wes Naiqama made this decision after careful consideration of the weather forecast for the weekend. The rescheduled family fun day will now take place on February 24.

“We were supposed to have our family fun day this Saturday but after hearing about the unfavourable weather condition that we are likely to face we decided to postpone it to February 24,” Naiqama said.

February 24 is the day Kaiviti Silktails will play a curtain raiser match against the FNRL Academy for the big NRL trial match between Melbourne Storm and Newcastle nights.

“We will have a family after-function after the match and we are looking forward to that,” Naiqama added.

In other exciting news, the Kaiviti Silktails have secured Allure EPM as their official apparel supplier for the 2024 season.

The partnership was announced by club executive Director Stephen Driscoll and Allure production manager James Breen at Allure’s Marrickville Headquarters in Sydney’s Inner West.

For the upcoming season, the Lautoka-based club will sport four distinctive strips, including home and away jerseys set to launch in midFebruary at the Fiji Airways headquarters in Nadi.

A special commemorative strip, designed by Fiji Airways, will be worn during the Annual Jacquie Shannon Memorial Bowl in August, paying tribute to the late football manager who passed away in 2022 when facing their NRL partner club, the Sydney Roosters, at Churchill Park.

The fourth strip, a Retro Jersey, will be worn on ‘Fiji Old Boys Day’ at the end of the season, honouring former Fiji Rugby League pioneers and legends.

Driscoll expressed enthusiasm for the Retro design and accompanying merchandise that Allure will bring to this special occasion.
