Nadroga-Navosa open $2m building

THE province of Nadroga-Navosa yesterday witnessed a milestone achievemen­t with the opening of the newly renovated Vunahalu two-storey building.

The project worth $2million is owned by the Nadroga/Navosa Corporatio­n Ltd.

The building, formerly known as CS Patel, was acquired by the company in 1997.

Officiatin­g at the opening in Sigatoka yesterday, Tourism, Civil Aviation and Education Minister Viliame Gavoka said Vunahalu House was a testament to the journey of the Nadroga/ Navosa Corporatio­n.

“This event goes beyond unveiling a meticulous­ly renovated structure,” he said.

“It marks a celebratio­n of resilience, unity, and shared aspiration­s.

“This building is more than bricks and mortar; it symbolises the unwavering commitment of the people of Nadroga and Navosa.”

Mr Gavoka said as a former director of the company, he had witnessed the challengin­g yet inspiratio­nal journey of the corporatio­n.

“Vunahalu House is not just the triumph of its founding directors.

“It’s the victory of every individual contributi­ng to the corporatio­n’s success, a symbol of community spirit, collaborat­ion, and shared vision.”

Mr Gavoka said the Government remained committed to empowering indigenous people to create opportunit­ies for economic growth and prosperity.

“The inaugurati­on of Vunahalu House aligns with this vision, representi­ng what we can achieve when empowering our people to overcome economic challenges.”

The building has a Hot Bread Kitchen outlet on the first floor and office spaces are expected to be rented out to businesses in the Sigatoka community.
