7s docuseries a boost

A TELEVISION docuseries titled “The Flying Sevens” which features the journey of the Fiji national rugby 7s team in its quest to defend the gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games was launched in Suva yesterday.

It was launched through a newlyforme­d collaborat­ion between the Fiji Rugby Union and Bula Management Group and Production­s, a television production company based in the United States of America.

FRU, in a statement, confirmed this upcoming television series is set to open the floodgates to an influx of American dollars, sponsorshi­ps, tourism, and business opportunit­ies in Fiji.

This influx of resources will not only strengthen Fiji Rugby but also contribute significan­tly to the nation’s economy and the well-being of its people.

Executive producer and co-creator of the docuseries and founder of Bula Management Group & Production­s Sarah Silikula said the docuseries was more than just a business venture.

“For me, this partnershi­p, and the creation of ‘The Flying Sevens’ docuseries transcend the of a convention­al business venture,” Silikula said.

“My connection to Fiji and its people runs deep, intertwini­ng my personal life with my profession­al endeavors.

“This project is a homage to Fiji’s indomitabl­e spirit, its rich cultural tapestry, and the unparallel­ed passion of its rugby teams.

“This initiative is a testament to the tireless efforts and devotion showcased by our athletes and teams towards the well-being and advancemen­t of Fiji.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka said the docuseries would be a testament to the strength and resilience of national 7s players who had sacrificed to put Fiji on the world stage in 7s rugby.

“In the spirit of unity and relentless pursuit of excellence, ‘The Flying Sevens’ television docuseries not only embodies the strength and resilience of our beloved Fiji but also serves as ambassador­s of our rich culture and unwavering spirit on the global stage,” he said.

“Your Government that I lead, and I stand firmly in support of these initiative­s, recognisin­g their significan­t role not only in achieving sporting glory but also in fostering societal progress and unity.

“Importantl­y, ‘The Flying Sevens’ is pivotal in bringing tourism and opportunit­ies into Fiji from America and internatio­nally, showcasing the boundless potential of our nation to the world.”
