MARKING its 150th year of providing insurance products in Fiji, Tower Insurance Group Ltd has opened a Suva hub which will be its centre of operations for the Pacific region.

Named “Vale ni Cina”, this new hub will service Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, American Samoa, and the Cook Islands.

Tower Group chief executive

Blair Turnbull said the company’s mission has always been clear from the start, which was to “help Fijian communities protect their homes, cars and businesses today and in the future”.

“It has been an incredible journey so far, but the best is yet to come.

“In addition to the opening of our Suva Hub today, we are also pleased to announce that we are planning a scholarship program in conjunction with the University of The South Pacific,” Mr Turnbull said.

“In line with the Fiji Government’s ambition of transitioning to a net-zero economy by 2050, Tower’s scholarships will go to students focused on issues that will lift Fiji’s financial capability and resilience to climate change, towards a more equitable and sustainable future.

“Our strategy for Fiji is simple, we are investing in local people and technology, with the goal of increasing insurance accessibility, coverage and ultimately resilience for the customers and communities we support.”

Mr Turnbull said the group would be sharing more about these scholarships and other community events and initiatives in the coming weeks.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Prof Biman

Prasad, who was chief guest at the event, said the opening of this new hub was a result of the hard work, dedication and vision of the Tower Group’s executives, staff, and shareholders.

“In fact, we are opening doors to opportunity, growth and prosperity,” he said.

“Tower, over the years, has shown a steadfast commitment to enhancing the landscape of Fiji.”
