Nadroga works on defensive strategies

- By JOHN CHETTY

THE Nadroga football team is focusing on refining their finishing and defensive strategies in the lead-up to round two of the Digicel Fiji Premier League following their 1-2 loss to Navua last Sunday.

Head coach Jitesh Nath attributes the team’s performance to adverse weather conditions impacting their preparations but is confident that they are making progress.

Nath emphasises the need for the team to capitalise on their opportunities, and despite the tough match against Navua FC, he is pleased with their performance, particularly scoring in their opponent’s home ground.

“Playing against Navua FC in the first-round match last Sunday in their home ground was tough, but we are still happy with the score line, especially playing in their home ground,” Nath said.

The team is now intensifying their efforts to work on defensive and finishing techniques ahead of their match against Labasa FC.

“We had a few areas to work on, especially on our defence and few phases of our attacking, we had our weaknesses, and we will try and rectify those weaknesses and let’s see how it goes in our second DFPL game against Labasa.

“Looking forward to playing at our home ground on Sunday, calling out all the supporters and fans to come in numbers to support the team,” he said.

Round two of the DFPL on Sunday sees Tailevu Naitasiri playing the Men in Black at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba, Rewa hosts Suva at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nasinu takes on Nadi at Prince Charles Park, Lautoka faces Navua at Churchill Park.

All these games kick off at 3pm while Nadroga and Labasa match starts at 1pm at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
