FAMILY and friends of the late Ratu Kinijoji Rayacarogo George Cama gathered yesterday to pay their last respects to one of Fiji’s most recognised radio announcers and media personality.

Known to many as Tukini Cama, he was the son of the late Filise Cama and Ro Miriama Cama.

Mr Cama passed away after a short illness at the Wainibokasi Hospital at 8pm on Sunday.

Head of the Catholic Church of Fiji Archbishop Peter Loy Chong said, during the church service, Mr Cama was a man of many talents, bringing together people from different backgrounds.

While paying tribute to late Mr Cama in a social media post, former colleague, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua paid homage to her late mentor/ friend.

“Thank you for what you have taught me as a colleague, Tukini – I can’t believe you’re gone,” she stated.

Before joining FM96, where he built his reputation and made a significant contribution to the broadcast industry by anchoring the morning shows and other programs, Mr Cama began his career with Westpac Bank.

He attended Stella Maris Primary School and briefly attended St Johns Cawaci before completing his Secondary school at Marist Brothers High

School.

Along with his contributions, he frequently volunteered for a variety of causes, such as the Archdiocese of Suva’s work, the Social Democratic Liberal Party’s (SODELPA) communications, and the talk show “Current Affairs” on Mai Tv.

Mr Cama was laid to rest at his mother’s village in Vuci, Tokatoka, Tailevu and the memorial service was held at the St Vincent DePaul Parish in Nausori.
