- By MATAIASI STARK

NEWCOMERS Bua College from Vanua Levu announced their arrival in the Fiji Secondary School Rugby League by defeating Sila Central High School.

The under-19 squad from the north proved their mettle in the fiercely contested match, marking their territory in the South Eastern Zone competition, which commenced yesterday at the St. Marcellin primary school grounds.

Bua College scored 12 unanswered points, eventually winning the match 12-0.

Head coach Peni Bolatolu commended his boys for a great performance and for not letting their experience in the game stop them from bringing their flare.

“We only started preparation this year after the school approved our request to form a team, and we are the only team from the north that is competing here,” he said.

“We don’t have proper training equipment, like some of these schools here today, but whatever we could find to help in our training was enough. The boys wanted to come here for the exposure and experience of what playing rugby league is like here in Viti Levu.”
