Women interested in financial awareness training
THE interest shown by women of Nawaka village, Nadi in coming out in numbers to attend the Fiji Development Bank’s awareness session on its products and services has been hailed by chief executive officer Saud Minam.
FDB had attended a women’s weaving, tailoring and fabric printing workshop organised by the Nawaka Village Women Group where they provided awareness on their financial literacy program, loan for women entrepreneurs’ product and small and medium business (SME) loans.
“As we continue with our month-long awareness and educational program for women entrepreneurs, FDB believes in fostering economic development at the grassroots level,” Mr Minam said.
Fifty three women and two men turned up to the Nawaka Community Hall for the awareness program, and the women were quite keen on learning more about the loan for women entrepreneurs’ product, FDB said in a statement.
“Through our extensive outreaches, the Bank not only imparts knowledge but also supports communities such as Nawaka, on the path towards economic growth and prosperity.”
Mr Minam said the application submissions for the women’s loan product has been supercharged by the bank’s awareness campaign along with crucial outreach efforts “and we find a significant percentage of attendees do eventually translate to loan recipients”.
“Fifty three women is an exceptional turnout. Momentum is certainly building all over the country for women-run businesses and FDB is at the forefront of this exciting development,” Mr Minam said.
