WICAT to host women in construction trade
WOMEN in Construction and Trade (WICAT) Fiji, an advocate and network for women in the construction and trade industry in Fiji, will hold its inaugural Lunch & Learn event to coincide with Global Women in Construction week, which runs from March 3 to March 9 this year.
With nearly 80 members, WICAT Fiji is proud to celebrate a week of solidarity and support for women in this predominantly male industry.
Founded in 2022, WICAT Fiji initially began as a small network of women, many mutual friends or associates of each other, supporting and sharing about experiences they have faced within the industry.
It quickly dawned upon the group of ladies that there must be many other women in the industry looking for a similar network of engaged, passionate trades women.
Founding member of WICAT
Fiji Julianne Verma expressed her pride in the organisation’s growth and mission.
“It’s a proud week for us ladies,” she said. “WICAT was created as a platform for networking and collaboration among women in the construction and trade industry. I am thrilled to see our network continue to grow as we connect and empower more women.”
At the core of WICAT Fiji’s ethos is the promotion of gender diversity, recognition of women’s achievements and the creation of an inclusive environment within the construction and trade sectors.
The Lunch & Learn event, scheduled for Wednesday March 6, 2024, from 12pm to 2pm at Prive, Toorak Central, will feature keynote speakers, all prominent women industry leaders with diverse expertise within the construction and trade sector. Attendees can expect insightful discussions and networking opportunities aimed at fostering growth and empowerment within the industry. The event underscoresWICAT Fiji’s commitment to providing a supportive platform for women to thrive and succeed in their careers.
