- By JOHN CHETTY

THE Nadi Blues Volleyball side is determined to make their presence known this weekend in the Capital City during day two of the Vanua Challenge competition at the FMF Gymnasium.

As the only team representing the West Division, they are determined to secure a win against tough opponents from the Suva area.

Their first game resulted in a loss to the Suva White team 19-25 and 1825. However, they bounced back in their second game, triumphing over Raiwai Green in a thrilling three sets match 25-14, 22-25, and 15-5.

The team’s captain, former national beach volleyball representative Finau Waqa, expressed her determination to lead her team to victory in the competition.

Waqa emphasised the importance of providing exposure to new and young players, allowing them to experience the high-stakes environment of a sanctioned tournament.

“We have a lot of new players and young players just here to expose them, get them to feel what volleyball is like in a big tournament,” said Waqa.

“Our main aim of this tournament is to prepare us for the Easter Games which is the tournament everyone is looking forward to participate.

“We had a month solid to work as a team, the combinations are coming out great, but I think we can do a lot better than our first two game we played.”

The Nadi Blues have dedicated significant time and effort to build strong team dynamics and improve their performance.

As they look forward to the final day of competition, the Nadi Blues are hopeful for a positive result.
