Schoolgirl­s poised for rugby league

A TOTAL of 16 schoolgirl­s’ teams are poised for the first round of the highly anticipate­d Pherrus Trophy Southeast Schools competitio­n, set to take place at Gospel High School grounds today.

Fiji’s top athletic School, Adi Cakobau, is all set to showcase their talent, not just on the track but also on the rugby field as they will face off against the formidable Naitasiri Warriors in their opening match.

Lai Corerega, the Fiji Secondary School Rugby League media officer, has expressed enthusiast­ic anticipati­on for a riveting display of rugby league action.

He has emphasized the thorough preparatio­ns of the schools participat­ing in the competitio­n.

“The match between the emerging powerhouse Adi Cakobau School and the Naitasiri Warriors promises to be electrifyi­ng, hoping to see ACS for the first time on the rugby field will be exciting,” said Corerega.

“Also not leaving out the defending champs Namosi Titans as they are willing to retain their title back for their school and giving a hard-fought match to the other schools.”

The competitio­n is further enhanced by other newcomers such as Noco Secondary School and Ratu Simione Matanitobu­a Memorial School.

Tickets for the event are available for purchase on the day, with prices set at $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students without uniforms, and $2.00 for students with uniforms.

Corerega adds fans are encouraged to come and show their support for their favorite schoolgirl’s teams at Gospel High School today, from 9am to 3pm.

Meanwhile, in the Western Schoolgirl­s round two competitio­n, Jasper Willams High School- Drasa Secondary School, Nakauvadra Saints- Ba Sanatan Sharks, AD Patel Storm- Ra High Roosters.
