Gollings remains focused on duty

FIJI Airways Fijian 7s head coach Ben Gollings remains focused on his coaching duties despite growing criticism and calls for his removal from the public.

Addressing questions about potential stepping down, Gollings remained resolute, emphasising that external opinions wouldn’t dictate his commitment to the team.

“My job is to do what I’m here to do, and I can’t control what people want to write. I’m not even looking at what they write.

“I’m not interested it’s not within my best interests. My best interest is to look at what we can do here and how we can better things here,” Gollings said.

Gollings acknowledged that everyone has opinions, especially in the age of social media, but he asserted that he is dedicated to working with the Fiji Rugby Union and the team to achieve their goals.

“I work within the FRU, I’ll work with those people around me with the general manager of High Performance and with this team, and we’ll continue to do so and the focus is on that if I’m distracted by that then I’m letting something get into me that I can’t control,” Gollings added.

Declining to engage with discussions about stepping down, he reiterated his focus on improving the team’s performance and preparing for future tournaments, including the Olympics.

“I’ve always got opinions and it gets greater and greater now with the environment around social media. They can say what they want to say,” Gollings added.
