Voluntary contribution for a worthy cause

- By MERI RADINIBARAVI

STARTING this month, guests at the Grand Pacific Hotel (GPH) will have an opportunity to voluntarily contribute

$2 per night into the hotel’s Community Care Fund initiative.

Funds collected from this initiative is dedicated to special need-based programs and resources in collaboration with governmental and nongovernmental organisations (NGOs).

The initiative was launched last month and will support community projects GPH undertakes, in collaboration with its sister hotels, InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa and Holiday Inn, Suva.

The philanthropic initiative was launched in July last year and has helped raised funds to assist in community project initiatives, focusing on areas such as supporting children at the Frank Hilton Organisation, collaborating with the Ministry of Health & Medical Services, and assisting WOWS Kids Fiji, among others.

“To accelerate the progress made so far, starting March 1, 2024, Grand Pacific Hotel will automatically include a voluntary FJ$2 contribution per night in the billing of each guest,” GPH portfolio general manager Lachlan Walker said.

“This nominal yet impactful contribution aims to make a real difference in the lives of children, their families, and communities across Fiji.

“We know that sustainability is as important to you as it is to us – and that’s why we’ve made it easy for you to stay at a hotel that shares your values.

“IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow is a 10-year action plan involving all IHG Hotels &

Resorts in more than 100 countries around the world.”

Guests will also have the flexibility to increase their donation or opt out of the program at any time during their stay by contacting the hotel’s front desk.

“It’s not just a stay; it’s a journey toward a better tomorrow,” Mr Walker said.

“By participating in the community care fund, guests can take pride in the fact that their visit to Grand Pacific Hotel is contributing to the development of education, well-being, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure for Fijians in need.

“It is important to note that Grand Pacific Hotel or FNPF-Owned IHG Fiji Hotels & Resorts does not profit from this partnership in any way, ensuring that every dollar contributed directly benefits the community.”

GPH, owned by the Fiji National Provident Fund, is managed by the world renowned InterContinental Hotels Group.
